    In most cases, TerraServer can authorize the publication of images in any book, magazine, newspaper, published report, or any other form.   • Can I broadcast an image on television, movie, website, video game?

    In most cases, TerraServer can authorize the broadcast of images on television, in a movie, on a public website, in a video game, or over any other media type. Any of these uses requires a publication license for an extra fee. These restrictions are placed on us by our providers and we cannot make any exceptions.   • Can I resell an image that I purchased from TerraServer?

    You may not resell any image purchased or downloaded from TerraServer. Doing so would be a direct breach and gross violation of the copyright and terms of use. Please contact us if you would like to potentially license images for resell.

  • Can I use an image from TerraServer in my school project?

    You may use an image from TerraServer in a school project as long as the project is not intended for any sort of mass publication and distribution. TerraServer images may be used in any situation in which the distribution is entirely internal to the purchasers place of business or study.

  • If I change an image, can I then use derivative images how ever I please?

    No. All images purchased from TerraServer and their derivatives are subject to the copyright and terms of use given by TerraServer. Any manipulation of an image from TerraServer does not automatically make it your own.

  • Who do I contact about getting rights to publish or broadcast an image?

    Absolutely. You may print your image as many times as you need to as long as it is not publicly distributed or resold and the use of the image does not violate the terms of use.

  • How many times can I print an image that I have purchased from TerraServer?

    There is no restriction on how many times you may print your image, as long as it is not publicly distributed or resold and the use does not violate our terms of use.

  • What does the image license cover?

    This image data file has been prepared by TerraServer exclusively for distribution via our web site to the purchaser and/or recipient of this image data file. It is intended exclusively for their own use. The original supplier of this image file and TerraServer retain the copyright to this image data file. The use of the this image data file is restricted to the representatives of the recipient and those other parties requested in writing by the purchaser and designated in writing be TerraServer or the original copyright owner or both.

    Use of this image data file by any other party is not permitted and is considered a violation of the copyright. This image data file may not be reproduced in digital form, in whole or in part, without the express written permission of TerraServer.

    This image data file is delivered to you as a copyrighted image with a non-transferable license that provides you restricted redistribution rights. You may not sell any images or allow others to redistribute any images in a commercial activity and you may not publish it without specific written permission of TerraServer. Publication licenses may be available on a limited basis for a fee from TerraServer.

    When you do distribute or display the image in any commercial environment, in any form, you must credit the source of the image as TerraServer.

  • What can I use an image purchased from TerraServer for?

    There are numerous examples of what is considered acceptable use of the images. The overlying restriction is that the image use must remain internal and available only to coworkers and clients. Further more, this is only acceptable as long as the image is used to support a service or product and not being sold as the image itself. For example, using the image to support a real estate listing, to demonstrate potential flood areas, to show a potential project area at a meeting, or in a school project are all considered acceptable uses of the image.
