Shopping Cart FAQs:

  • Do I need to be a subscriber to purchase prints and images?

    No, you do not need to be a subscriber. The print and image purchase menu appears below the Image Viewer for all users. Subscribers do receive an additional discount though, so it may be worth considering.

  • Will the watermarks appear on purchased imagery?

    Any watermarks that we have placed on the imagery will be removed on any purchased digital images or prints. These will be the watermarks that say TerraServer.

  • Will the logos at the corners of the image appear on purchased imagery?

    The logos and copyright information will remain on purchased imagery. They will be much smaller on purchased imagery as the size requirement is the exact same but will be present on a much larger image.

  • Will the date be printed on the download or print?

    Yes, the date will be printed very small in the upper left hand corner under the TerraServer logo.

  • What should I do if you do not have the print size that I would like?

    We've tailored our print sizes to match up with popular frame sizes. If you are looking to do a custom size, you can purchase a digital image and then have a print shop print the image at the size that you are looking for. For larger projects, we can provide custom maps for an additional consulting fee starting at $125.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours.

  • How much does a print cost?

    Please consult the purchase menu at the bottom of the image viewer to find out the current costs of prints. The price will depend on the size of the print as well as what paper type you decide on.

  • How much does a digital image cost?

    Please select the green Check Purchase Options button located at the bottom of the Viewer page. This takes you to the Preview page, which will list the prices. The price will depend on the size of the image as well as the file type selected.

  • How do I know exactly what I am purchasing?

    We strongly encourage all of our users to preview imagery as much as possible prior to purchase. We do not issue refunds on purchased imagery because the customer selects the exact image to be purchased and has multiple opportunities to ensure that they are ordering the correct image.
    Again, please preview your imagery before you purchase it.

  • How do I preview the image before I purchase it?

    You may preview an image by clicking on either the image file size or print size under the Image Viewer. You may also click on the Preview link in your shopping cart once you have added an image or print to your cart. The image on the left will be the area that the image covers while the image on the right will show the quality of the surface at the zoom level and size that you have decided on. The image on the right is the most important. If this is blurry or does not look right, you will need to change your zoom level or image/print size.

  • Once I've found an image that I like, how do I purchase it?

    Select the green Check Purchase Options button located at the bottom of the Viewer page. You will see the purchase options listed on the right side of the page. You may purchase an image or print by selecting the circle button next to the image size that you would like to purchase. If you would like to purchase multiple images, you will need to click on the Add to Cart button at the bottom of the page for each item. Once you have added all of the imagery that you intend to purchase to your cart, you may click on the cart image in the top, right corner and select View Cart or Checkout. If you wish to purchase only one product, you may select the product and click the Buy Now button.

  • What types of payment do you accept?

    We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Diners Club using the online transaction forms on the website. We will accept purchase orders, checks, and American Express on orders over $500. These orders will need to be called in and handled on an individual basis.

  • Can I use a Purchase Order?

    We will accept purchase orders on orders over $500. Please contact us on an individual basis to handle these orders.

  • Is your site and purchasing process secure?

    All of our transactions are handled by Verisign, the leader in handling online transactions. Verisign handles as many as 31 billion transactions a day using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption to maintain absolute security over your financial information.

  • What security measures have you taken?

    We insure that your financial information is safe by not storing any credit card numbers or financial information for any of our customers. All of your financial information is handled by Verisign, a company that specializes in encrypted online transactions. We also do not share customer information with any other company.

  • Once I've purchased an image, how do I retrieve it?

    Once you have purchased a digital image, an email will be sent to your email address with a link for downloading the image. Please check your Junk or Spam folder. You may also download a purchased image by going to your Order History off of your Account page. Follow the instructions on downloading your purchased imagery.

  • Once I've purchased a print, how long does it take to deliver?

    Delivery time will depend on the shipping method selected. It will take 24-48 hours for us to send the image file to the printers and for them to print the image. The quoted shipping time will take effect after the image is printed. Add two days to whichever shipping selection you have made in order to determine actual arrival time.

  • I've added one item to my cart, how do I go back to the viewer to look at more images?

    Click on Viewer tab at the top of the page to return to the viewer. From here you can search for a new location or move around within the current image. If you would like to return to your cart, simply click on the Cart tab at the top of the page.

  • Once I've put an image or print in my cart, how long will it remain in the cart?

    The image or print will remain in your cart until your cookies refresh or you clear your cookies. Do not rely on images remaining in your cart once you leave the site for longer than a day or so.

  • How do I remove an item from my cart?

    You may remove an item from your cart by clicking on the Cart button in the top, right corner of the page and clicking the “X” for the line item you no longer want to purchase.

  • I've got everything I want to purchase in my shopping cart. How do I check out?

    Simply go to the Cart tab at the top of the page. Verify that everything on that page is correct and please take this opportunity to preview all of your images. Once you have done that, click on Checkout.

  • I'm having trouble checking out. Can someone take my order over the phone?

    We will be glad to help guide you through the purchasing process, but the credit card billing is done through the site.

  • Does the shipping address have to be the same as the billing address?

    The shipping address does not have to be the same as the billing address. The billing address must be the same as the billing address for the credit card being used.

  • What companies do you ship with?

    Our printer,, utilizes USPS and UPS for shipping.

  • Do you charge handling fees in addition to shipping?

    We do not charge any handling fees. Our shipping fees are exactly what the shipper charges us to send your order.

  • Can I pull up my past orders?

    Yes. Subscribers can pull up your past orders by signing in and then going to your Account page. From there, select your Order History and all of your previous transactions should be present. Non-subscribers can go to the Cart and click on Order History. Orders can then be searched by order number or email address.

  • How do I get a receipt for my purchases on

    You will receive a receipt in your email immediately following your purchase. Please check your Junk or Spam folder if you do not automatically receive the receipt. If you have not received this email or are looking for a receipt from past transactions, you will need to go to your Account page and then click on Order History.

  • Do you offer a bulk discount when ordering multiple prints and images?

    Yes. Subscribers receive a discount off of purchases including prints and digital images. We also offer prepay credits for bulk orders with discounts up to 30% off. The more you prepay, the more you save.

  • I tried to purchase a product or subscription, and the site timed out. What is wrong?

    Rarely there are connectivity and server problems between our site and VeriSign. This is simply a timing issue and it is something that is usually resolved very quickly. If you experience this problem, try making your purchase again. If you are unsure of whether your transaction went through or not, please contact us using the Contact Page.

  • The site says that my form of payment has been rejected. What should I do?

    Begin by trying to re-enter your payment information. Often times, one number will be wrong and cause the system to reject the information. If you try again and receive the same message, this means that Verisign is rejecting your form of payment. Please select another credit card and call your credit card company for clarification on why your payment was rejected.
