 Multiple Image Sizes Available:
We offer digital image downloads multiple image pixel sizes ranging from : 1000 x 1000 pixels to 3000 x 3000 pixels. Larger image sizes can be printed at a higher DPI and larger print size.
Attached Geo-referenced World File:
All of our image downloads come with a geo-referenced World File that provides the information needed to import the image into AutoCAD and ArcGIS type software.
The files are a plain text file that provides the projection used for the image as well as the coordinates for the image. An read me text file is also included with projection and datum information.
Multiple File Types:
We offer two different types of image downloads; the basic file and the complete file. The basic file contains the image in the .jpg format that is a relatively universal image format. The complete file contains the image in the following formats:
.jpg (Joint Photgraphics Expert Group) This is the most common image format used on the internet. This will work in most imagery programs.
.png (Portable Network Graphics) This lossless image format is able to maintain sharp edges. PNG is a better choice for storing images that contain text, line art, or other images with sharp transitions. It also supports layers.
.tif (Tagged Image File Format) Some older GIS software will only import TIFF images. These file sizes tend to be larger, but the image is lossless and tends to be the best image out of the various formats.
.psd (Adobe Photoshop) This format is the type used in Adobe Photoshop, the current market leader for commercial bitmap and image manipulation.
.pdf (Portable Document Format) Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a 2D document that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics. This format is read by Adobe Acrobat and Reader.
.bmp (Bitmap Image) An uncompressed file used by the Windows OS that is typically very large.
.gif (Graphics Interchange Format) An 8-bit-per-pixel bitmap format that is in wide use on the Internet due to its portability. This will support animation but is limited to 256 distinct colors, making it not suitable for a high resolution imagery.
Instantly Download Files:
As soon as you click the purchase button on TerraServer.com, your digital images are available for download. An email is sent with instructions for downloading the image and purchased imagery remains available to you as long as you are a customer on TerraServer.
